Fig is joining AWS! #2068

Open brendanfalk opened 10 months ago

I am thrilled to announce that the Fig team will be joining Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Amazon has acquired Fig.io’s technology. See the announcement here

Fig and AWS share a passion for improved developer tools and services. By combining Fig’s expertise with AWS’ long-term orientation and track record of delivering customer-centric products, we see an opportunity to enhance the developer experience.

Existing users will continue to be able to use Fig and will receive ongoing support. In fact, we are now making all the paid Fig Team features completely free. New users will not be able to sign up for Fig.io’s products right now while we focus on optimizing them for existing customers and addressing some needs identified to integrate Fig with AWS.

As always, we are incredibly thankful to our community for its continued support. With hundreds of thousands of users, 22k GitHub stars, 13k Discord members, 400 open source contributors, and 5 core products, we could not be more proud of what you have helped us accomplish over the last 3 years.

We can’t wait to continue to innovate with you.

Congratulations!! For those interested in an open-source alternative, that’s also LLM powered! Checkout 🦍 CLI https://github.com/gorilla-llm/gorilla-cli

Congratulations But when are you going to open Fig for new users? At least approximately

HashCookie commented 10 months ago

XhstormR commented 7 months ago

Is this project dead?

AJNOURI commented 7 months ago

Guys, any roadmap to reopen subscriptions? It is OK to have unexpected hurtles, it is also OK to communicate about them. In the announcement it was about "couple of weeks", already a couple of months.

I found these recent posts:

Thank you for sharing @shadowspawn!

Side note: my comments, with valid criticism, seem to keep getting deleted 👎

I still can't delete my fig account data :/

kopeboy commented 4 months ago

So why do you allow me to download the original Fig if I can't even use it at all (since I cannot signup)? Maybe there's a way to use it without signing up?

lucadibello commented 4 months ago

Tried AWS CodeWhisperer for CLI and I'm a bit disappointed... I thought it was a complete porting of this project but in reality, apart from becoming completely closed-source, many features are still missing (i.e. plugin support) even after months of its release.

miclgael commented 3 months ago

For folks not already with access, yes fig is dead

email confirming access to fig will end September 1 2024

"We can confirm that all user data will be deleted. You can delete the data yourself by going to app.fig.io, logging in, and going to settings. *"

* I note, however, delete function still broken since August.

Will autocomplete still be sourced from this repo? Should PRs be sent to this repo?

No, All fig products are sunsetted

damienbutt commented 3 months ago

This is really disappointing. Is the new Amazon tool open source?

Just read above the Amazon tool is closed source. I'm not touching it. Might as well be an Amazon keylogger.

Thank god for open source and the ability to fork.

JonnyBurger commented 3 months ago

I'm not sure if you are right @Zaid-maker. It sounds like you can still send PRs to this repo

Ah damm, i heard new signups were not working. But here i was hoping to still be able to use my already installed fig :( Guess it phones home somehow since i forgot to check the "Disable AutoUpdate"

I won't use Amazon Q ever, is there any alternative to Fig ? I won't pay for an Amazon IA suite, I just need a nice terminal autocomplete...

miclgael commented 2 months ago

@giovannetti-eric have you tried zsh-autosuggestions ?

I switched to it on Aug 29, 2023 and never looked back.

u3u commented 3 weeks ago
