I believe the correct git upstream is this https://github.com/gnome-terminator/terminator with the docs page https://gnome-terminator.readthedocs.io/en/latest/plugins.html#creating-your-own-plugins

The above upstream is a similarly named project based in Java that is not the commonly used terminal emulator. Homebrew and most Linux package managers point to the gnome sponsored one.
