Definitely not earlier than a new Slackware is released, and battle-tested, and I switch my dev system to it. I have totally no use for Wayland myself, therefore the only way for it to appear before me, is as part of standard install.
After that, it depends on completeness of said backend. After the sad crippled excuse that is the Quartz backend, I expect the Wayland one is no better, and if that proves true, I'll need a real valid reason to spend time working around its failings.
@wjaguar Hi, maintainer of the mtpaint
package in Arch Linux here.
After applying this patch, mtPaint starts and runs fine together with Wayland.
Please consider adding a similar set of changes, if it does not interfer with running mtPaint under Slackware.
The sad reality of things is, with this patch you lose screenshot capability and clipboard import. Both need adding (and testing, and debugging) Wayland-specific code to regain. While in February I expected worse, these two problems aren't nothing, either.
Hi,
Is there any chance for Wayland to become supported as a GDK backend in the future ?
Thank you very much.
