What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.checkout the source
2.execute "make"

What is the expected output?  What do you see instead?

Are you referring to 
http://code.google.com/p/google-code-prettify/source/browse/trunk/Makefile#24 ?

If so, why not?

Are you using some Windows version of make?  The Makefile on my checkout uses 
LF only, but that may be a result of using svn checkout on *nix.
