Do you have an icon appearing in the notify tray, over on the right?

If so, can you click and turn off Remember Position if you have it set.

Hi! My wife is having the same issue.. winauth seems to start, shows up on the
taskbar and task manager, but not in the notification tray (or anywhere else,
for that matter, not even the screen)
This renders not only Winauth unusable, but also the Application i'm trying to
log in to!!
Is there a fix?

I've not come across the issue before. Do you remember if you used any settings
to Auto Size or Remember Position?

Can you send me your winauth.xml file from
c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\WinAuth, so I load it here and try and see
what's going wrong.

You can email it to me directly at winauth@gmail.com

Just a note, in the meantime, you could restore your authenticator into a new
file to load it up.

Close winauth. Open Explorer, and go into the folder c:\users\<your
username>\AppData\Roaming\WinAuth. Rename the current winxml.xml file to
something else. DO NOT delete it, as it contains your original authenticator.
Run winauth again, and it'll start like it's the first time. You can then click
Add and add your authenticator with the secret key you had from when you first
added the authenticator. Hopefully this will let you see your codes whilst we
try and work out the original problem.

If you don't have your original secret key, then I'll need to find the issue.

Luckily I did still have WinAuth in the notification tray and ticking off
Remember Position seemed to have fix my particular issue. Thank you.

It would be really useful to be able to find the cause, in case there is a
general bug.

You mentioned originally that it wasn't in the notification area. Was it just
begin hidden by Windows previously, and you had to go into the notification bar
and make sure it was visible?

Do you have multiple monitors and put it on a different one?

Original comment by winauth on 14 Jul 2014 at 12:38

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Yes, Windows did hide it initially. And no, I don't have a multi-monitor
setup but I did forget to mention that I had just updated my video card
drivers when this issue started up, I'm not sure if this would be related
with the Remember Position option but maybe?

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Thanks. I could imagine that if it saved the position during a driver update,
which put it out of bounds of your final resolution. Or even if you changed
resolution, then this issue could occur. But I think it's a fringe case and the
position can be reset by removing and re-adding the "remember position" choice.

So not going to do anything for now, i.e. adding bounds checking, but will
monitor it in case it occurs again.
