So, follow-up required:

The 32-bit ARM builds time out (probably due to the overhead of emulation on 32-bit?) but the stretch builds work (older compiler is faster?), so will need to move them to the self-hosted runner
The self-hosted runner doesn't do clean builds properly, will have to fix that.
