  1. What are latest versions of PHP, mysql and Apache that i may deploy to?

    • this morning i downloaded WAMP using latest versions
    • I am deploying to Windows 2012

  2. do I define a virtual host for each project (i.e api, backstage2, front end, etc)?

  3. should i configure xampp to serve up a file outside of the htdocs directory?

    • that is serve the files from the project htdocs folder?

Note: i have no background in PHP and apache

I have not tested this software on Windows. However, it should work in theory.

You can download WAMP for Windows which should give you PHP/MySQL/Apache2. You may need to ensure that PHP libraries CURL, JSON, GD, MCrypt and BCrypt are installed.
