Petty language remark: I think the term betweenness may be a bit confusing to people not familiar with it (at least it was to me). Perhaps centrality (although a bit less accurate) would be more intuitive (at least in the GUI).

Agreed, none of the graph elements might be directly comprehensible to users. The svg.tmpl has some explanation but the new timeline layout needs a info page behind some help button.

Also, people have problems with the initial state of the graph. It's not always clear that the zoom is a zoom and that they have to zoom out first.
