CCT 08, new codes for FY-4 GIIRS, FY-4 AGRI, FY-4 GHI, FY-3 HIRAS and FY-3 MWRI

This document proposes new entries to Common Code Tables C-8 to identify GIIRS，AGRI and GHI instruments on FY-4. GIIRS and AGRI are instruments flown on FY-4 series of satellites with specifications varying from one satellite to another. 1）GIIRS is Temperature/humidity sounding and wind profile derivation by tracking water vapour features .(https://space.oscar.wmo.int/instruments/view/giirs). 2）AGRI is Multi-purpose imagery and wind derivation by tracking clouds and water vapour features. (https://space.oscar.wmo.int/instruments/view/agri) 3）GHI is an instrument flown on FY-4B satellite. GHI is designed to acquire very frequent imagery of limited areas. (https://space.oscar.wmo.int/instruments/view/ghi) New entries to Common Code Table C-8 are needed to identify these instruments. 4) HIRAS-2 is a Temperature/humidity sounding instrument on-board FY-3E/F/H satellites. (https://space.oscar.wmo.int/instruments/view/hiras_2) 5) HIRAS-3 is a Temperature/humidity sounding instrument on-board FY-3J satellite. 6) MWRI-1 is a microwave imager instrument on-board FY-3A/B/C/D satellites. Comments

The code number is TBD. At present, AGRI=961 and GIIRS=962. Is it possible to reassign the code number so that the instrument numbers in the same series are consecutive？

Xue Lei presented the issue; (Marijana) 962 is the same as 967; (Xue Lei) can we cancel 962; (Marijana) we need HRAS-2 on FY-3E, will double check; Is there data around GIIRS? We should make sure CGMS approves of this list. (Jeff) Can't just change and reassign the numbers; in reality, the numbers may not be able to be in consecutive order; [ACTION] Xue Lei will rename 962 with GIIRS-1 and start GIIRS-2 with 967

@amilan17 @shirley-xuelei @marijanacrepulja For HIRAS-2, I propose entry 983. In the column "type" we should have "Cross-nadir scanning IR sounder" as is already in CCT-C8 for HIRAS.

I have passed this to the CGMS Task Group for their consideration. They have until 29 May to comment. So I can confirm by 1 June.

@SimonElliottEUM @marijanacrepulja @amilan17 According to the requirements of our NSMC, I added HIRAS-2/3, as well as MWRI-1/2/RW. And I renamed 962 with GIIRS-1 and 961 with AGRI-1, too. Please check and advise, thank you.
