Summary and purpose

ECMWF proposes a new entry to Common Code Tables C-8 to identify data from rescued satellite instruments.

Action proposed

The meeting is kindly invited to review and approve the proposed new entries for inclusion within the next update to the WMO Manual on Codes.

Discussions

ECMWF is preparing for ERA6 and need to pre-process and assimilate "rescued" satellite data from

Detailed proposal

@marijanacrepulja j) perhaps the title could refer to "CCT C-8 to identify satellite instruments from which data has been rescued", and ij) I will pass the proposals to the CGMS Task Group (TGSDC) for comments

SimonElliottEUM commented 2 years ago

@marijanacrepulja - I also note entries 992-994 are from a reserved range in the table. If they can be unreserved for this purpose, then there should be no problem.

In progress, CGMS to be asked to assign code numbers.

CGMS TGSDC has had time to consider the proposed entries and not raised any objection. They can therefore be considered to support the proposal.
