re: https://github.com/wmo-im/CCT/wiki/Teleconference-26-and-28.4.2022
Within ECMWF there is a move away from NetCDF to GRIB with the ocean models and new GRIB parameters are required. Internal experts at ECMWF are happy with the proposal but it would be good to get a second opinion from experts in the ocean modelling community on names, units etc to check for errors / clarity. David to follow up and identify who to consult with. |

branch updated and units of salinity changed
https://github.com/wmo-im/CCT/wiki/Teleconference-8.6.2022 notes:
@sebvi thanks for updating the branch. @amilan17, the branch is validated. Please confirm and move to 'ready for FT'.
@sebvi - should the units be m-2 s-1 (as they were in the branch) or m s-2 (as they are in the issue summary)?
10 | 4 | 38 | Eastward sea water velocity tendency due to parameterisation | m s-2 |
---|---|---|---|---|
10 | 4 | 39 | Northward sea water velocity tendency due to parameterisation | m s-2 |
:O it should be m s-2 , like the proposal summary! Thanks for spotting this @amilan17 !
Summary and purpose
ECMWF is requesting many new ocean parameters for operational ocean modelling.
Action proposed
The team is kindly asked to review and approve the contents for inclusion within the next update to the WMO Manual on Codes.
Discussions
ECMWF is developing its next generation of ocean modelling which will output natively in GRIB2. This proposal contains the parameters needed for the second stage of the implementation, following the parameters requested for stage 1 in #96, #68 and #57
