Mechanism on filtering notifications for certain products #12

Clarify how subscription to the global broker will work. In particularly, the possibility on filtering a subset of products under a particular topic. The idea is that users may be interested in getting only certain products (e.g. tropical cyclone tracks). How the notifications will be possibly filtered, if there is no topic hierarchy specific for tropical cyclone tracks?

If it's in the topic hierarchy, you can filter. So if it makes sense for the NWP colleagues to define the topic level by saying tropical cyclone tracks, for example, as part of the topic hierarchy featuring, it's easy and if not, it can be done. That means that the products that you consider are in great demand shall be in the topic

As discussed with @yhe-wmo, we should study this during the pilot phase. If we don't add TC tracks to the TH, can a user still filter to access only TC tracks.  What can be parsed by the client to get what they want?

TC tracks are a very specific type of products and I would not mind having a different topical hierachy for it.

Filtering in the TH is based on the topic. Nothing else. This is how MQTT works. If filtering on product X or Y, the domain experts should agree on having a topic level domain including this. I suggest closing this issue and manage it in the various groups discussing domain related topic hierarchy.
