Relevant Upper-Level Courses I've taken: CS 1530 (Software Engineering) CS 1550 (Operating Systems) CS 1555 (Database Management Systems) CS 1571 (Artificial Intelligence) CS 1653 (Cryptography and Network Security)

  1. A match-making website for capstones I am interested in full-stack development, which this project offers with needing both a front-end application and some sort of database system. Furthermore, I have experience with the Agile SDLC from CS 1530 and knowledge of databases and creating schema for them from CS 1555. The project seems to be an interesting and useful application that would certainly see use in the very near future, depending on the success/progress made, while also giving me a chance to practice both web development and database management.

  2. Context-Aware Path Recommendation As stated before, I am experienced with Agile and databases, which are both relevant to this project. I am somewhat familiar with HTML and Javascript, but I am well experienced in Java due to the many other CS courses that use it. Overall, this project would be a way for me to expand my knowledge of web-based programming while practicing the skills learned in previous classes.

  3. Synthetic Student Generation While I have not taken the Machine Learning class available at Pitt, I have taken CS 1571, which gave a brief overview of AI and neural networks, which seems to be a key concept needed for this project. I may not have the same amount of experience with this topic as other projects, but I am willing to figure out and learn whatever is required.
