Second Choice: Virtual Kathy: A conversational agent for the CS Department
Third Choice: TA assignment application
Because I'm extensively experienced in web development and various languages/frameworks involved in web programming with an internship experience working as a front-end developer, all 3 of my choices have the core of developing a web application of different meanings. 412 Connect is my top choice because I really care about the Pittsburgh community and it will be great to be able to help people around us with my technical skills (I volunteered at UPMC Shadyside during my sophomore year, and I'm excited to use my CS skills to make an impact in the greater Pittsburgh area). Virtual Kathy, my second choice, has the potential of being extremely valuable to first-year CS majors since first-year students might have a lot of questions to ask and an AI conversation bot would be great for that role, since emailing their academic advisors and faculty would result in slower response time, compared to an AI conversational agent. Students will be more likely to ask questions and have a better learning experience at Pitt. My third choice is TA assignment application. As an UTA myself, I can immensely relate to the diligent work of scheduling recitation session and it would be great if my team could build a web application to quickly do that tedious, yet important work.
