Cant't/Won't Complete Setup - Get Started button does nothing #834

Closed simplyniknaks closed 4 years ago

simplyniknaks commented 5 years ago

I have just downloaded the plugin and installed so it is latest version and activated it.

I get a message saying 'Complete the setup steps' I click on this and get taken to Settings page with a 'Get Started' button.

However, clicking 'Get Started' does nothing at all - stays on same page.

Therefore I cannot complete setup

argentdeux commented 5 years ago

Disable any adblockers or popup blockers and try again. Do you still have the issue in another browser?

simplyniknaks commented 5 years ago

I have tried multiple browsers and even different computers. This is an issue reported by several people I have found in another thread several months ago Wordpress v 4.9.8 Woocommerce v 3.5.3 Facebook for woocommerce v1.9.8

iwtw-richb commented 5 years ago

Same issue here, it just opens facebook in a popup window, does nothing

@iwtw-richb

Same issue here, it just opens facebook in a popup window, does nothing

You get further than me then as the ‘Get Started’ button does nothing at all for me except add a # character to the end of the URL.

@jieminz22 I have read your response and versions of Wordpress, woocommerce and plugin are supplied above. As said before I found another thread #796 from several months ago after starting this one where several other users have same problem where a screenshot of the setup screen and the ‘Get Started’ button is shown. I have no idea how to add the ‘Debug Ready’ label

jieminz22 commented 5 years ago

Hi @simplyniknaks,

If you confirmed you don't have ad block turned on, can you please send me your page URL and website URL? Thanks!

simplyniknaks commented 5 years ago

Hi

My Website url: simplyniknaks.co.uk

When I activate plugin and click on ‘complete the setup steps’ I get taken to url https://simplyniknaks.co.uk/wp-admin//admin.php?page=wc-settings&tab=integration&section=facebookcommercehttps://simplyniknaks.co.uk/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wc-settings&tab=integration&section=facebookcommerce

When I now click the ‘Get Started’ button url changes to https://simplyniknaks.co.uk/wp-admin//admin.php?page=wc-settings&tab=integration&section=facebookcommerce#https://simplyniknaks.co.uk/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wc-settings&tab=integration&section=facebookcommerce#

but nothing happens so setup does not complete I have tried 2 different computers and 3 different browsers and same problem

I have even tried ignoring the ‘complete the setup steps’ link and going directly through Woocommerce, Settings, Integration tab. This gives me the url https://simplyniknaks.co.uk/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wc-settings&tab=integration and if I now click ‘Get Started’ I get https://simplyniknaks.co.uk/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wc-settings&tab=integration# but again nothing happens

Hi @simplyniknaks,

We are not able to repro this. Do you have access to your PHP error logs? If you do, please check for lines that reference facebook or look like the timing coincides with you clicking the botton. Please paste them here so we can investigate! Thanks.

simplyniknaks commented 5 years ago

I have searched for all error_log files on my site and there are several in different directories. However, none have errors referencing facebook or that are time stamped with clicking the ‘Get Started’ button (I re-activated the plugin and tried again to see if any errors logged with todays date but there were none).

However, one thing I have noticed. On the Plugins page if I click ‘View Details’ besides ‘Facebook for Woocommerce’ I get this error An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forumshttps://wordpress.org/support/.

Clicking the ‘support forums’ link and I get the error ‘wordpress.org refused to connect

This error does not occur on other plugins I have that also have a ‘View Details’ link.

I have contacted my site admin people and they assure me everything is as up to date as can be so it is unlikely to be a server configuration problem.

I don’t know if the above error is why clicking ‘Get Started’ does not work but thought it worth a mention.

Regards, Phil

Ok have some info that might help. If in my personal FB account I am an administrator of a page and make sure I am logged into my personal account before clicking 'get started' it works, it allows me to choose the page I want to use.

If I am logged into that pages account directly via the page creators credentials the 'get started' button fails and just opens the page in a popup...

simplyniknaks commented 5 years ago

Ok. So I am using Chrome. I opened another tab and logged into facebook with my personal account where I am admin to my business page.

I re-activated plugin, clicked ‘Get Started’ but again nothing happens.

Do you have popups blocked in Chrome?

simplyniknaks commented 5 years ago

Chrome actually gives a message if it blocks a popup giving you the option to allow for site – no message is/was received.

However, I have also specifically disabled the popup blocker in settings, closed down Chrome, re-started and made sure popup is still disabled, signed into facebook, opened another tab and signed into admin for my website, and again clicking ‘Get Started’ on the settings page of the plugin does nothing.

As a final test I repeated the whole process using IE and exact same result – nothing happens when I click Get Started

Is there not any code or mod that can be added that will add some debug infromation so you can see what happens when Get Started is clicked?

Now I could be barking up the wrong tree, but I turned on the Developer Tools Javascript Debugger in Chrome whilst on the plugin Settings page. On the Console tab there were 3 errors mentioned – 1 for admin (screenshot 25) and 2 for facebook (screenshot 26). I have attached screenshots of them so you can take a look to see if that helps to resolve.

Had a similar issue and was too lazy to look into the logs, so I initially searched on Google and came here. Nothing was useful here, so I just looked into the logs and I was getting:

[05-May-2019 21:58:49 UTC] PHP Notice: Undefined index: fb_api_key in /var/www/html/web/app/plugins/facebook-for-woocommerce/facebook-commerce.php on line 706 [05-May-2019 21:58:49 UTC] PHP Notice: Undefined index: fb_page_id in /var/www/html/web/app/plugins/facebook-for-woocommerce/facebook-commerce.php on line 2223

So I fixed this by adding the FB page ID and now the popup appears. I tried deleting the FB Page ID after and apparently the popup still appears after pressing the Get started button and there is no error thrown anymore.

simplyniknaks commented 5 years ago

That’s very interesting. Could you explain further with exactly what you did?

I presume you edited the facebook-commerce.php file to add in the FB Page ID at those lines?

Also, where or what is the FB Page ID - is this the same as the URL or something else?

I haven't taken the time to fiddle with the plugin's files. What I did was to input the ID (it's something else, it's numeric -- found it in the business manager) in the FB Page ID Field that's on the same page as the Get started button (under the Debug heading). I could take a look if you'd like.

Licto commented 5 years ago

This is a pretty annoying issue. I have a similar problem. We already had Webshop connected to Facebook (over Facebook for Woocommerce plugin) but due to duplicated items, and some minor issues we decided to remove Facebook shop, Catalog and Plugin Facebook for Woocommerce and create environment for a fresh start... Well, that was mistake :)

At the moment when I try to set up plugin (over "Get started" button) I stuck on the last step, to be more specific when I press "finish" button it just loads for 2 sec and do nothing. (screenshot)

9

I tried all the "basic" steps... disable plugins, change browser, test without Ad blocker, delete cache... Nothing helped. Since there are no options to delete settings than I tried with Database modifications and deleted "facebook_config" and "woocommerce_facebookcommerce_settings" entry inside Wp_options table.

Last thing that I found inside console is "Undefined index: fb_api_key" and "Undefined index: fb_page_id" (screenshot) console-error — WordPress

No matter what I do when I reinstall the plugin on the third step (facebook pixel -dropdown) it shows that one pixel is already correctly connected with Webshop.

Also, on the second step (Facebook page - dropdown) it says that Facebook is already connected to Woocomerce store and gives me the option to remove the existing connection. When I click "remove" message "Sorry something went wrong. This might be temporary...Please try again"" pops out. (screenshot) 5

any suggestions are welcome :)

Hello, My developer was able to resolve this with some changes to my theme. I have a custom theme on my site and there was something in the theme that was causing this problem (and some other issues). I finally linked to FB but within minutes they blocked my underwear range because the machine flagged them as sexually explicit.... next problem to tackle! I hope this is helpful to others who are still trying to resolve this :)

californiawine commented 5 years ago

Thanks so much for weighing in. Do you know what your developer did exactly to fix it? Or would the best bet be to switch the theme (at least temporarily)? Hope your underwear line is all in the clear now! :)

bhambhambham commented 5 years ago

Hello! Still waiting to hear from Facebook sadly. I don't know exactly what she did - she said she fixed a couple of things. I'm not an expert but you could try switching themes to see if that is the cause of your problems? Good luck!

Hey there! 👋

Lindsey here, from the SkyVerge product team! We recently took over development and support for the Facebook for WooCommerce extension.

In our recent 1.10 releases, we've fixed many issues impacting the store connection, pixel tracking, and product sync. Could you please update to the latest version of Facebook for WooCommerce and see if that resolves this issue?

If not, could you please contact our support team or open a new issue here? We'd be happy to help troubleshoot further with you.

Thank you!

RESOLVED - 'Get Started' does nothing at all - stays on same page. - I had faced the same problem got it resolved here are the steps

  1. remove facebook for woocommerce plugin if u have installed
  2. Go to ur FB Business manager - setting- data source - pixel setup - select woocommerce - down load -
  3. than install that plugin to ur wordpress, activate but do not update the plugin as its seems the updated plugin has issues
  4. Now u slhd be able to click on get started button
