Thank you for reporting the issue. The functionality of the Analytics
section is a part of WooCommerce Admin which is being developed in another repository: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce-admin.
I am going to move your bug report there so that the right team could take a look further.
I'm able to reproduce this with WooCommerce 5.0.0 and WooCommerce Admin 2.1.0. It seems that in orders advanced filters, attribute filtering works by filtering orders that contains variable products that have the attribute value assigned to a particular variation.
This is definitely off, attribute filtering should apply to all products with the assigned attribute.

The Analytics Order filter for Attribute fails to work for Simple products, Grouped Products and External/Affiliated products with attributes added.
Environment:
Windows 10, macOS High Sierra v10.13.6 Browser: Chrome(Version 88.0.4324.104) (64-bit) Firefox(Version 83.0)(64-bit) Safari: v13.1.2(13609.3.5.1.5)
