[GlobalStep - WooCommerce 5.0 Beta 1] During checkout, Pincodes fails to validate with States/city. #28866

Bug Description:

During checkout, Pincodes fails to validate with States/city.

Environment:

Windows 10, macOS Mojave v10.14.6 (18G103) Browser: Chrome(Version 87.0.4280.88 (64-bit)) Firefox(Version 83.0)(64-bit) Safari: v13.1.1 (14609.2.9.1.3)

Steps To Reproduce:

  1. Create any test site using Jurassic Ninja.
  2. Install and activate all required plugins.
  3. Complete the Onboarding setup wizard
  4. Add some Products.
  5. Go to the frontend and add any product to the cart.
  6. Go to Checkout.
  7. Now Select country "India".
  8. Enter any city name. (Say "Pune").
  9. Select any State.
  10. Now enter any invalid 6 digit PinCode (Say 941100).
  11. Click on the Place order button.
  12. Observe that Pincodes fails to validate with States/city.

Actual Result:

During checkout, Pincodes fails to validate with States/city.

Expected Result:

Pincodes should validate with States/Cities.

Thanks @gglobalstep for raising this.

As WooCommerce supports all countries we can only do a certain amount of address validation. The type of validation needed to verify postal codes match the other components of the address other than being in the correct format for the country itself would be too complex.

Closing this for now as everything is working as expected.
