as we mostly already stop-ed using discord, we should not encourage to new users

Deployment of preview was torn down

If we do this, we should completely close the discord in the next months. Otherwise I'd say it's fine to still have a link there so users can join if they don't want to use matrix.

well i would first start with just make it unofficial ...

qwerty287 commented 1 month ago

Yes, we can start with it and once it's unofficial, it can also stay I'd say.

Then however, please remove the discord announcement from .woodpecker/social.yaml.

I would just leave the general channel. Seems like some users still use it and help each other, so why should we force them to use matrix.

I think we should not force - the discord server is still able to be discovered via discord and I wont delete the server - e.g. it's now just unofficial but we can & still should have a look at it from time to time

What about my question?

Then however, please remove the discord announcement from .woodpecker/social.yaml.

I dont see harm in having release notes there ... untill it breaks at that point we can remove it

qwerty287 commented 1 month ago

My point is that as long as we automatically post it there from our pipeline it's an official channel, even if it's not listed in the docs.

ok could you submit a pull to rm it then?
