Localization is hard, error prone, and slow. It requires learning many technical skills with GitHub and creates barriers to localization.
What's the design idea?
The overarching concept is to create a localization experience that has features such as:
Entering a localization mode to select strings to localize
See multiple languages side by side to help translate
Get machine translation as a starting point
See out of date, missing, and invalid strings in a to do list
See translations in the context in which they are rendered
Submit translations for inclusion without using GitHub
Start new locales
This would be a major maintenance feature, but could greatly improve the localization experience and engage audiences that aren't willing or able to learn all of the skills for contributing with the current infrastructure.
