I guess my workflow should be: compose DRAFT in pajamas in bed and then clean up with desktop later, instead of just posting directly from my tablet. Wish that extra step wasn't necessary, but maybe the enforced pause is a good idea, anyway.
Thanks for the report! Android 8 has a native "paste as plain text" feature that we added to the WordPress editor (https://github.com/wordpress-mobile/AztecEditor-Android/pull/739). We recommend using that feature instead of trying to clear formatting after pasting. Is that paste as plain text feature working for you?
Oops, I made a mistake (got confused w/my phone).
The platform is actually an Asus Zenpad 3s 10 running Android 6.0, so, no, there is no "paste as plain text" option (there is on my phone, though, but that's not the platform I usually use for WordPress app post composition).
Thanks for clarifying! cc @daniloercoli was there any discussion around the "paste as plain text" feature about whether we'd implement something for devices below Android 8?
Sorry @rachelmcr, there wasn't a discussion around porting that feature to devices running Android < 8. I guess we can write our own version of the "Paste as plain text" feature (or implement a clean formatting button) in Aztec.

Expected behavior
A UI "gesture" (button?) that will remove HTML formatting, CSS styles and class names, and line breaks from content copied from another source. (I guess entire lists should be preserved, but maybe an isolated item should be de-itemed?) This would be similar to what WordPress has in its web UI.
Actual behavior
There is no such function in the Android app, as far as I can tell.
Steps to reproduce the behavior
Share a tweet from Twitter's PWA in night mode but also COPY AND PASTE the text of the tweet into the post. You'll see it come out basically white on white.
This also happens when copying and pasting excerpts from news stories (NYT, WaPo, The Atlantic, etc.). Sometimes comes out with unexpected fonts and embedded line breaks.
