internal ref: #257529-h
This came up as a common request in p77Llu-9N5-p2.
Request in 263269-h
From a four star review on the app store:
there is no way to access editing portfolio pages like you can on safari—please fix! ive been using the app to work on a blob and am just starting a new one to showcase artwork, being able to edit portfolio pages in the app would be very convenient!

i have some feedback, overall i love this app and it is almost perfect for managing my site from wherever i am, however i am an artist and graphic designer and would love for the portfolio tab that lets me add and edit the portfolio from within the app without having to go through the website or the visit site then have to edit there.
it is multiple extra steps to get to the portfolio from the app and it would be nice if like the blog it could be accessed within the ios app

Please update your app for the inclusion of portfolio since my site focuses on portfolio posts only. Thank you. I’m sure this will help a lot of traveling photo blogs and other media centric mobile content creators.
A two star review:
Cannot edit portfolio pages

Hey guys. I can't edit my projects/portfolio items on the app. Could you please add this feature. Thanks.

I'm using the Projects/Portfolio feature, but can't seem to post Projects from the app

Still valid!
I had someone just today asking about this: 26839568-hc
I don't think supporting portfolios is as relevant with Gutenberg, @hypest thoughts?
My two cents: As with all custom post types, relevance depends a lot on the theme (and/or plugins) the user is working with. While Gutenberg is certainly changing the way themes are thought about, there are still many themes around (including plenty of WordPress.com themes) that use Portfolios. For someone using Veni or Orvis, Portfolio Projects could be much of their site content.
So I think the argument is perhaps more about whether the app should support custom post types at all, which would effect everything from Portfolios to Products etc. More requests for custom post types can be found in https://github.com/wordpress-mobile/WordPress-iOS/issues/500.
I'd give a +1 to CPTs still being relevant with Gutenberg, if I can also offer my two cents.
A lot of the benefits that come with CPTs include changes that Gutenberg doesn't overlap with, such as custom URL structures, custom taxonomies, the ability to sort content in "folders" of sorts, etc. With Jetpack's portfolio feature, for example, users will often make use of the project type
and project tag
taxonomies.
There's also an opportunity for people to define block templates for CPTs, so it's my understanding that Gutenberg may actually unlock some new possibilities when it comes to using the portfolio post type.
I found this related P2 conversation that touches on some of those points, too: pbMoDN-1z4-p2#comment-3147

I haven't had much exposure to plans/convos about CPTs, or Portfolio for that matter, and Gutenberg other than Site Editing and how CPTs are used for capturing some of the Data Model of Gutenberg. Maybe @chipsnyder or @iamthomasbishop has some insight.
That said, I understand that CPTs are definitely a big thing in the WP community in general (self-hosted sites and similar), with WP agencies are still utilizing CPTs to build the custom sites their clients need. In that respect, some basic support for CPTs/Portfolio would probably make sense.

I also haven't had much exposure to Custom Post Types yet. So I'm not sure I have much to add.
