NOTICE: This list is not for 10bit-color, ideally-calibrated graphics specific monitors. We are looking for all-around good monitor. If you are paraprofessional graphics designer and keen on calibration/colors, then only option you have is 10bit Eizo ColorEdge line.

I probably spend 8 hours a day on my work computer and 4 hours on my home one. Work is 2x 60hz E IPS 24" panel and at home I have a 144hz IPS primary and 60hz IPS secondary. I notice immediately when I come home and do the same work on my 144hz. It's markedly more pleasant to do just about anything on, other than basic word processing and emailing. I don't know if it medically reduces eye strain, but I feel much more comfortable doing work on it. It feels more natural, your brain/eyes are doing less interping, so it feels much more relaxing. It's hard to explain without experiencing it.

Free-Sync (AMD GPU required) works from 56-144hz/fps, eliminates tearing and lag, it is the only AHVA Free-Sync monitor with back-light strobing, and has excellent 1080p scaling which makes it the best all around 27" 1440p AHVA 144hz monitor for PC and console gaming, and watching 1080p content.

Setting the Response Time to Faster and Fastest actives back-light strobing or blur reductio which reduces motion blur, but may cause some people to suffer from health issues like headaches and/or eyestrain.

The Viewsonic XG2703 is the best all around 27" 1440p AHVA 144-165hz monitor with Nvidia G-Sync for PC and console gaming, and watching 1080p content.

Dell S2719DGF review

I highly recommend saving up an addition 100-150$ for an Acer XF270HUA, Asus MG279Q, Nixeus Edge 27 or Pixio PX277H which all use 144hz AHVA (marketed as IPS) panels with AMD Free-Sync.
