The v3 hardware includes a Pi HAT EEPROM. It should be tested to make sure it works, though I'm not sure there's much motivation to actually use it since everybody makes their own board right now, and it's more work to initialize the EEPROM than it is to just install the device tree overlay.
Anyway, test it to make sure the hardware at least works.
