[QA] Cannot connect MetaMask via WalletConnect #2099

Describe the current behavior in detail

Builds: Tested NOK: https://deploy-preview-2080--wormhole-connect-mainnet.netlify.app/ [Mainnet] Tested OK: https://portalbridge.com/ [Mainnet], https://wormhole-connect-mainnet.netlify.app/ [Mainnet]

Checked on macOS Sonoma 14.4.1 and Google Chrome Version 124.0.6367.208 (Official Build) (arm64).

Steps:

  1. Select Ethereum as source chain
  2. Click "Connect wallet" button and select "WalletConnect" option
  3. Scan QR Code with MetaMask app
  4. Check if wallet is connected

Actual result: Wallet is not connected. The pop-up with the QR code remains displayed. Expected result: Wallet is connected.

Tested from: Mainnet Tested from iPhone 14, iOS 16.0 User is unable to connect Metamask wallet through WalletConnect Comment: Managed to connect to Wormhole when in Metamask app changed network to Ethereum and then scanned the QR code Attachment:

Reproducible on https://deploy-preview-2113--wormhole-connect-mainnet.netlify.app/ [Mainnet]. Connection to MetaMask does not happen.
