Field Proposal: Roleplay Language (LC)

This field would encode a locale identifier (enUS, deDE, etc.) for a player's preferred roleplay language. This wouldn't normally be needed with language-specific RP servers, but Classic lacks these entirely.

• AddOns that implement support for this field should send a locale identifier in the LC field matching the form exposed by the GetLocale() function.
• AddOns displaying the contents of this field should implement support for all valid GetLocale() returns.
• Locale identifiers are not restricted to the returns of GetLocale(). AddOns may send other locale identifiers through (eg. "enGB") if such data is available. AddOns must be prepared to accept such values, but are not required to display them.
• The LC field contents do not need to match the exact return of GetLocale() on the client itself; this field is to encode the users preferred language for roleplay. They may have their client locale set to something different than their preferred speaking language.

To clarify on the format returned used by Blizzard (and returned by GetLocale()), the locale identifier is a combination of a lowercase ISO 639-1 language code and an uppercase ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code.

So a couple of examples of future expansion from the linked lists:

• svSE - Swedish
• jaJP - Japanese
• krKP - Korean (North Korea)
