CardDAV & CalDAV are standards. I recommend implementing them (#563) before writing an own standard. CardDAV & CalDAV can also be used by e.g. syncing contacts with your cloud-solution, google or something like that. I want to be flexible and host my companys data on my own servers, not on google servers or something like that. So I recommend implementing a default standard as written in #563.

BTW: You're planning an own app? For that you can also use CardDAV & CalDAV.
