Blending from Bezier to Spiro is THE feature of Curvemixer. It involves a number of steps

[ ] calculating the curvature of the bezier at the anchor
[ ] getting the slope of the bezier at the anchor (the same as the slope from the connected handle)
[ ] passing slope and curvature into spiro

FontForge's naive conversion seems like a great solution. Looks like spiro anchors are dropped in at t=1/3 and t=2/3.
