"Copy select item links" does not open Zotero properly if Zotero is not already open #260

Hello and thank you for this very useful add-on.

I've been making use of the "Copy select item links" function. The resulting links work as expected when Zotero is already open. However, when Zotero is not open, clicking on a created link does open Zotero but only to a blank window: Screenshot 2023-10-23 at 11 21 05 AM Is this expected? I'd expect the link to open Zotero and highlight the reference in my library, like the behavior when Zotero is already open.

Hi @liamtoney,

You are correct, one would expect the link to start Zotero and highlight the references. Unfortunately this issue would be to do with Zotero, rather than with Zutilo. Zotero takes quite a long time to get itself set up at a first start, and the issue you see may be to do with that.

When we built this plugin https://github.com/edtechhub/zotero-edtechhub we added a window that tells you when Zotero is fully operational.

Hopefully newer versions of Zotero will improve this behaviour!

Thanks @bjohas for this information, this was what I was imagining was the case. I'll go ahead and close this.
