5 years ago while running some tests on my local computer (even in a docker environment) I faced out the same problem with the demo startup. I just changed the server.properties file (https://github.com/wso2/samples-is/blob/master/quick-start-guide/src/main/resources/conf/server.properties) and removed the ".com" from the wso2is.host.domain and server.host.domain. New file became:
localhost.com is used to resolve naked hostname validation issue
wso2is.host.domain=localhost wso2is.host.port=9443 server.host.domain=localhost server.host.port=8080
