Gafata web font renders apostrophe with a large width #192

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Type text with an apostrophe, e.g. Don't
2. Set font to Gafata

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expect normal kerning. Instead I see a large space after the apostrophe e.g.
Don' t

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

OS X Mountain Lion, Chrome 24.0.1312.52

Please provide any additional information below.

The problem also appears when using the (installed) TTF directly in a text
editor. The behaviour in the browser is not affected by activating/deactivating
or uninstalling the font in FontBook.

Definitely glyph 39 - quotesingle APOSTROPHE

After tweaking the width in fontforge, the display is correct.

It's now February 12... is that update going to be released soon?

I just applied that font to a site today... what a rude surprise... about broke
my heart ;-)

Thanks for the great utility... now if this one glyph can be corrected...

Had this issue as well with Gafata, which renders it useless for any real
project. Had to switch to a different font.

I've made a patched version to use in the meantime, you can see it in use here:
http://schmeeky.co.uk

The zip of the webfont is attached. This was generated by modifying the TTF
from the source repository and then running it through the FontSquirrel webfont
converter.
