Allow custom symbols #7

I use my nvim without any icons for personal preference (no patched fonts either), and thus I'm wondering whether we can add the feature of opting to use custom symbols from config?

Hey @Aceticia! Just wanted to let you know that I've been playing around with this. I don't really use this plugin anymore though, and it it looks like some of the functionality might be broken with the latest Neovim or with a newer version of NUI. Still hoping to get this in, but it will take a bit longer.
