Issue when Starting on MacBook Pro (M2 Chip) #1170

Open pjlamb12 opened 1 year ago

pjlamb12 commented 1 year ago

macOS version: 13.2.1 Kap version: 3.6.0

Steps to reproduce

Download and install Kap for Mac on an M2 chip

Current behaviour

Kap starts, but shows an error immediately

image

Expected behaviour

Expect it to work like it does on the M1 chip

Workaround

Haven't been able to find one

carstenhag commented 1 year ago

Not related to an M2 chip. I am using a M1 MacBook Pro and it's equally broken :D macOS 13.2.1 (22D68)

I tried to manually grant it screen recording access, but it did not help.

There's a workaround available here: https://github.com/wulkano/Kap/issues/1095#issuecomment-1216312778

Any plans to support M1 without Rosetta?

timothyis commented 1 year ago

This is hard to reproduce. I have an M2 and it works just out of the box. If anyone wants to investigate, please feel free.

Once you have Rosetta 2 installed, I don't think you can uninstall it. So to reproduce it you would need a fresh macOS installation where Rosetta 2 was never installed.

I have a fresh Mac install with no Rosetta and Kap-3.6.0-arm64 gives the same error as at the top of this thread.

My Mac Air 2022 without rosetta installation history show me the same message.
