So this should probably also be affected by the inactivity_tweets
option.
I'm not sure.
1) People who do not wish to be bothered by the server reminding them of it's existence probably won't care for nostalgia reminders either.
2) Other server members may care for nostalgia reminders, regardless of the respective person's inactivity_tweets
option settings. Maybe a good ol' nonmention should be in place in that case.
Conclusion: Idunnolol ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Nonmention when inactivity_tweets
is off sounds good.
Maybe inactivity_tweets
should be more generalized, come to think of it. Consider chatsync_highlight
, which is intended for people to not be bothered by unwanted IRC highlights – Maybe there should be a similar option for Twitter mentions? It has not been an issue (to my knowledge), but I assume it would be nice to give people the option to opt out of mentions in general.
How about a second option activity_tweets
which covers deaths and achievements? If I'm not missing anything, those are currently the only auto-generated tweets containing mentions.
Sounds good, but I was thinking of a more general twitter_mention
, which would toggle @mention and nonmention (or ZWNJ-enhanced @mention?), and would therefore apply to all current and all maybe/soon™ upcoming features that include a Twitter mention. This would have the effect that the notification tweets themselves would be generated as usual for others to be seen, but would not be seen as mentionspam.
However, "I don't want my server activity to be plastered over twitter" and "I don't mind the tweets, but am annoyed by all the deathtweets that are mocking me from my mention section" are two separate issues.
I leave it to you to prioritize which is more practical or relevant, seeing as the initial topic of this was a new kind of information to be tweeted, which is kind of a different thing than what we are currently discussing.
I'm tired.
The Twitter account needs more useless information output, therefore I propose wurstminebot to take note whether the current date is the join date of any of the active (i.e. status ≠ former) server members, then tweet something to the likes of
at a prominent (i.e. probably random) time of day.
So this would go in a similar direction as #19, as that it would remind people that, you know, the server is still a thing. Just in case.
