The phone doesn't work in korean network... #235

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Arrive to Korea from another country (Ukraine or Europe, Russia)
2. Check if the phone is unlocked (call the operator) - if yes, then...
3. Register your phone and insert a sim-card (mine is unlocked for KTF, olleh)
4. The signal bar is "empty" and the phone can't connect to network (though the
operator says that it must work...)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Should work in the korean network if the operator confirms\approves the serial
numbers, IMEI etc (even assigned a phone calling number +821028935---)

What version of the product are you using?
1.
2. system-gb-20111011-snapshot
3. boot-gb237-111025-236mb-r193
4. build number GRJ22
5. modem version GW620-V10g
6. factory version GW620AT-00-V10g-EUY-XX-DEC-30-2009
7. HW version GW620_1_0

On what operating system?

Windows XP sp2

Do you have logcat or dmesg ?

Not yet... (haven't installed all necessary programs on my laptop)

What version of the *Official LG* Firmware were before using Custom
firmware ?

(V10e or V10d - don't remember exactly...)

Please provide any additional information below.

In the status menu, the signal strength is 85 dBm 16 asu.

I am staying in Seoul for one year - I kindly ask you for your help.

Yes, the manager of the phone shop (as far as I have understood – because I
am not a native speaking Korean) got this sim-card from the second-hand
(previously used) KH5200, after that he registered my phone in the network and
inserted the sim-card into it – after he saw that mine is not working, he
inserted it to a simple phone (not a smart-phone) and that sim-card was
working…

I am thinking that is because of my 236mb boot (without AMSS), but I would like
to know if I am right – I do not want to swipe all the settings… But if I
have to – I will do that after confirmation:
I hope it is not because of a network module (yes, I know that
telecommunication system differs a lot in Korea) and I hope it can be solved
with a software mod… (I hope the developer will send me the “Korean
firmware”)

I must also mention that I had some issues in my home country – but they were
solved by changing an old sim-card to a new one (furthermore, this issue was
solved with the newer boot).
Must I reconfigure any APN’s in the Korean sim-card?

In addition, my phone now (with Korean sim-card) says “insert a sim-card”
after an “airplane mod”.

*little update: just tried a friend's sim-card (SK operator) - something is
different:
while the phone and the network loads, it shows the signal bar FULL (yeah!!!)
until the operator blocks the signal\phone :( . The SK sim-card has only 3
contacts\pins (thin), while the KTF sim-card is broader and has 4 contacts
(pins).
What should I do? Can I apply to the SK operator? Plz, help me!

*a roaming sim-card is working in Korea - checked the United Arab Emirates'
sim-card in the shop and had an incoming call from this shop.
