CleanSlate automatically inserts the following line:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
...into every page into the system. Can you have hammer do the same? We've removed it from the template with a note about what's going on.
I've noticed special characters mess up when UTF-8 isn't set explicitly.
