remove empty / unused markup #42

Due to some spaghetti code, I have some code fragments floating around even when they are not needed. Like empty links in the logged-in section of activities where the edit and delete links would be. This might hinder some css development and is also very bad markup.

Remove all unused and empty tag generation at the source!
