Activity option: Comment notification #62

It already happened to me that I didn't notice comments on a shout or event I posted. It would be super awesome if we could integrate an option which I can check on activity creation (default unchecked) to be notified per E-Mail when someone (who is not me) comments my activity. Is that possible?

For event it could even be thought further into additionally notices for signups/signouts, that would be super awesome.

if email is implemented, there's a number of other notifications I'd also put in. Like wwhen an event is changed (or cancelled) or when signups have reached a hreshhold (say the minimum required number) or when you're in the backup queue and someone signs out again

These are excellent suggestions, email notifications should be a top priority. They should heave the usefulness of the website to a whole new level. Specially regarding events.

We have a system in place to show comments in the stream (action messages), this could be fleshed out to also show a user-based 'new comment count' in the sidebar. Is email really needed?

We really need a second developer, one who is not as 90's as I am ^^ (I hate emails, digital calendars and all other (in my opinion) inferior stuff from the 90's :))

Do we really need another developer for that, or do we need more opinions? Also, email notification should be an option, not something everyone is subjected to until they delete their email from the website. Maybe you can also make a different layout without the calendar (visible?) for yourself and people like you who don't like the calendar.

I think we should also get a way to mark notifications as read, so they don't (have to) clog up the rest of the website. Just a little cross to close them at the rightside would do I think.

Hmm, not everyone has a look on the website every day. I know, I can't understand it either, but that's how reality looks like ;) The ActionMessages are nice, but for example as an event creator I really would like to receive an email if someone signs in or out. Also for comment on my shouts. I wouldn't build a fully customizable 'send me an email about everything whenever possible' framework, I just want an option in my profile settings: [ ] Send me email notifications for reactions on my activities And depending on that I get emails or not - finished.

Kakir, if you want to suggest this notification closings (which I would not agree that we need it) please open another issue. With all this topics, it's kinda important staying on the topic in one thread, otherwise it will get kinda hard to sort them out and work through them ;)
