Setting PERFORMANCE_REPORTING to 0 causes compilation error

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. #define PERFORMANCE_REPORTING 0
2. Build

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Compilation fails:
In function 'void printPerfData(long int)':
error: 'mainLoop_count' was not declared in this scope

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
v1.7 from zip file download.  Win7.

Please provide any additional information below.

Comment suggests that PERFORMANCE_REPORTING is for uBlox only, and I'm using 
MTK GPS, so it seemed sensible to disable it.  Is comment incorrect?

I suffer the same problem and want a solution.  I am using ArduPilot, ArduIMU+ 
and MTK GPS as well.
