main: Add basic error handling #5

Also breaks up main into its constituent parts.

I plan to nuke the entire main.cpp file at some point when I make a proper interface, so I didn't take much care of the code quality here... should I still maintain this file?

I suppose not. I mainly did this for whenever I unlazy myself and start using it myself.
