An experimental journal switcher functionality was made available via the Experimental Features menu in version 2.5.11 (build 2.5.11.13) or later, including the public v2.5.11 release.
In the Experimental Settings page (accessible via Personal Diary Settings), turn on Developer Mode. Now, tap 'Random Button', type in 'change is coming' without quotes, and select 'Yes'. This will prompt access to the journal switcher as long as Developer Mode is on.
Note that the reliability of this feature is not yet guaranteed and needs more testing. Do not test it on critical data you don't have a backup copy of. You may always switch back to the default journal, called 'Default' (without quotes) using the same method above.
This feature is now available for use on version 2.6 and later via Personal Diary > Settings > Experimental Features and version 3.0 and later via Personal Diary > Settings > Multi Journal Mode.
This is now publicly available in version 3.0. Will be leaving the issue open for now for visibility.
Considering to add the ability for a user to have multiple journals.
This will allow users to have more than one journal for organisation, and can also improve startup speed as the app currently loads all diary entries before displaying the Timeline. The ability to split entries from separate years into separate journals automatically may also be helpful.
Update:
This is now available with Personal Diary version 3.0, but is disabled by default. To use this functionality, navigate to Multi-Journal Mode under Personal Diary Settings to enable it.
