AccelerometerManager.java requires GPLv3 compatibility #32

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Need to get approval from original software copyright owners to allow GPLv2 or
later compatible licensing to allow use of GPLv3 code.

Otherwise, AcceleromterManager.java will have to be pulled an re-implemented.

Message from Glenn Sanson, author of the Java port of Frozen Bubble from which
this Android port was derived:

Hi Eric,

You can add 'GPLv2 or later version' to the licence of the java version of FB
in order to include GPL v3 code to FB.

I'll update my website to reflect this change (May take some time... ). Tell me
if you need a more formal answer.

As a side note, FB is a bit aging as it was made with Java 1.1 in mind (Which
means AWT and Vector everywhere!). It includes numerous ugly patches to work
with VM from Apple, Netscape (!!) and Microsoft (!!!)

A new version should be out this year, with new features
http://labs.zepr.net/fb2/

Regards,
Glenn

Message from Guillaume Cottenceau, author of the original Frozen Bubble:

I like your idea. "GPLv2 or GPLv3" is fine for me.

Thanks,
Guillaume

So one final question: if “GPLv2 or later” isn’t acceptable, then you
would be okay with “GPLv2 or GPLv3” as you indicated previously?

Sincerely,
Eric
