I am not sure I understand your reply. What is the point of raising an issue about this project if the answer is "use another software"? That would make sense if you imply that this project should be overridden altogether? Which would imply that this project is useless and then the question is "why maintain it at all?"

The point of building an efficient blocklist is that in this form (instead of a browser plugin) you can use it at the DNS level, thus applying it to all devices in your network without having to configure them individually. At the moment this list does not include the servers that stream advertisements. By including them, the problem would be solved. I guess it's just a matter of knowing their addresses.

Oh I agree with you, I didn't mean to give you a solution, but rather an alternative that might help until the script is fixed :)

Here is another alternative, install spicetify and then install the adblock extension via its marketplace. Thats what I am doing rn

Hey yall

I've also tried to block ads using the hosts file (an0n-00/spotify-ad-hosts) and realised, that it does not work. (some urls send ads and music...). I've created a new approach, by injecting JS into the desktop app, it works perfectly as of 2024. You can read more at an0n-00/SpotifyAB
