How to show just polyline in Xbim Xplorer

andyward commented 1 year ago

What are you expecting to see?

Xplorer only shows Mesh topologies currently.

6ther commented 1 year ago

i expect to see outline that made of polylines in the Xplorer, not surface or solid, only some lines.

That'll need some major work in Xplorer (and maybe the Geometry Engine) I suspect. What's the actual need here?

It's really hard to be sure of what you need from that screenshot. Do you have a test case (model) and and example of what you expect to see. E.g. do other viewers support this visualisation - can your share that?

You may need to be prepared to do the work yourself, but we can't even guide you with the info provided

No it can't.

Sorry, this isn't helping - we know what a Polyline looks like!

What is not clear is how you want a Polyline to appear like in a 3D scene - Or why? Is it some kind of annotation? Can you provide examples or a mockup of how you expect it to work?

The only 2D concepts Xplorer shows are IfcGrids. It may possible to build on that. This will likely need significant effort to support. But no one is going to do that unless you can be really clear what the requirements are.

As a starting point, please provide:

  1. An IFC model with the polyline representation
  2. A screenshot or mock-up of what you expect to see (e.g. does another BIM viewer display this the way you expect?)
  3. Some explanation of how you'd expect to interact with this polyline in a 3D viewer (Can you select it etc?)
  4. A summary of what this geometry represents in the design

I will close this issue if we just get another one-line comment - it's just wasting everyone's time.
