XLights Crashes When Pasting Model #4581

I imported the Zombie Hand Pixel Stake Left model from Boscoyo. I then hit CTRL C to copy it but when I hit CTRL V to past XLIGHTS crashes.

I am now having this same issue, originally on a 2023.23, but persists after upgrading to 2024.10. xLights crashes whenever I try to copy (CTRL-C_ and then paste (CTRL-V) a model (EFL Pumpkin and Peace Stake xx in log file). This worked fine up until attempting to copy a model that would have been "Peace Stake 77". No controllers mapped to any models.

OS: Windows 11

Update on my issue - If I switch to 3D mode, I can then copy any existing model. I can then switch back to 2D mode and work with existing models, but cannot copy them in 2D mode or I experience the same crash.

I'll take a look at the attached files this morning, but have you tried to create a brand spanking new show folder, in 2d, and then download or create a new model and then copy/paste? We've seen some issues with bad info in the rgbeffects file before. Also, when you copy/paste.. do just that, Ctrl C -> Ctrl V .... DO NOT move/click when you "want" the model pasted. Move it after the fact. This was fixed in 3d so maybe that's what you are doing.. clicking away and then ctrl v

image Just tried it on your layout and no issues..I'm using a Mac with the latest pre-release version...

I didn't think my copy/paste bug fix was specific to 3D or 2D.

Okay. thought it may have been since he said it was working in 3D. But works for me, for both issues, 2d/3d.. and a MAC...

Maybe you guys can jump in the Zoom room and we can take a look.

I joined the Zoom room tonight and we narrowed it down to the following workflow:

If I don't click off the model after pressing CTRL-C, it functions normally. Also, it was noted that the crash happens before the pop-up window appears asking if I wish to add the model to existing groups.

What I have been saying... don't click anywhere..just copy/paste... The fix to allow you to click off...$4551 will be in 2024.11.

Yeah this the one I fixed 3 weeks ago we just haven't done a release. See #4551
