3d preview crashes normalmap in gimp 2.8 #12

The 3d preview fails to load and crashes normalmap.
Here is the console output.
I am running glib 2.32 on my system.

gimp

Hey there,

I got exactly the error when running normalmap 1.2.3 on Ubuntu 12.04 with Gimp 
2.8.6:

Same error here, click 3D Preview and crashes... nothing happens. Ubuntu 13.04 
Gimp 2.8.4. Intel I7 CPU. Could not find plug-in version.
