No need to write it up as a petition though, I'm just one person working on this after all 😄
As a matter of fact, I've already started porting the code to an entirely different build of the game. All it needs is addresses for the injector, the rest of the stuff is already written.
Ideally, this would be written with the pattern detector, kind of like what ThirteenAG's WS Fix does here so it would be compatible with any similar version without hardcoded adresses.
And yes, I do know of the issues with the multiplayer. I was thinking of patching out the "copy protection" features at some point. Not even LAN works on 2 copies of the game that I have locally. I just didn't think about it being specifically being tied to v242.

Xan, we appreciate your efforts and time you've put on this game when there are more popular games on this franchise to mod. But as a retro NFS casual player I've noticed the little but active community prefers the v2.40 instead of v2.42 for the following reasons (collected by me from various Discord servers):
I'm still asking people that plays this game more often than I do, and will extend this list as I get more info. But the oldies that still play this game would love to enjoy this game on the most popular version. If it does not take you a lot of time ¿would you mind build it for v2.40?
