It seems that the GPU is getting hammered when switched to VR mode. Particularly the GPU memory
Below is GPU usage in VR mode
And this is GPU usage in desktop mode
My Specs are: OS - Windows 11 CPU - Ryzen 7 5800x GPU - RTX 2080 Super RAM - 32GB
It's really bad in VR with about 10fps when at the menu and outright crashing when playing. Though there are some struggles in desktop mode as well with blue/red outlines on Talos at times.
VR Set: Valve Index OS: Windows 10 CPU: i7-7700K GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 RAM: 16 GB
In VR, I get 5-10 FPS and constant stuttering in-game on Low/Medium and ~30 in the menu; on desktop I get 70+ in-game on Ultra, so that's fine. The game crashed one or two times trying to play it in VR. Menus were also extremely difficult to use in VR, and the game gets stuck on a black screen after launch if I have SteamVR open before starting MMVS.
VR Set: Valve Index & Oculus Quest 2 OS: Windows 11 CPU: i9-9900K GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Founder's Edition RAM: 64 GB
I am also seeing horrible FPS in VR mode. In addition to that, I am seeing artifacting in desktop and VR modes, only in this game, usually in dark areas. I have run MSI Kombustor and various games at max settings for at least 6 hours to check for artifacts and saw no issues with those.
setting post processing to low helps with artifacts, performance can be improved by launching with -d3d11, and then do:
r.Shadow.DistanceScale 2
to reduce the talas shading issue when he is far away
Several users has heavy lags in VR using steam Index but not on previous version. 5fps on a 4090 so I think a CPU issue.
