OpenElec has solved this issue in r12776 !!!
I will push an XBMC with xbmc/xbmc@e08fee3 in it to xbmc-nightly
Thanks, hope it works.
I have similar issue:
Film details: Metadata: encoder : VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.1 (build 2439/release) Duration: 01:47:05.76, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 916 kb/s Stream #0:0: Video: mpeg4 (Advanced Simple Profile) (XVID / 0x44495658), yuv420p, 592x320 [SAR 1:1 DAR 37:20], 25 tbr, 25 tbn, 25 tbc Stream #0:1: Audio: mp3 (U[0][0][0] / 0x0055), 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 32 kb/s
The problem remains on xbian1.0a3, xbian1.0a4 and https://github.com/xbianonpi/xbmc-nightly/commit/aa4e23afc8670d50f5dea9733042ed40dd745b63 . Openelec shows all films correctly by UPnP too.
I am on OpenElec now. They repaired it there... According Xbian they repaired it. Have to test it...
Which version has been fixed the issue? I tried alpha 3, alpha 4 and nightly but the problem return.
Please try: http://forum.xbian.org/thread-177-post-1558.html#pid1558 .
UPDATE: I downloaded your sample file, played without any problem on a fresh XBian 1.0 Alpha 4 image (playing from network with MPEG2 & VC1 license, XBMC RC1).
Hi koenk,
This is the video which stops after a few minutes: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B_E5agDuRzLBdUhIcW1wRU9lMms
I didn't have time to test is on XBIAN.
The guys of openelec solved the issue.
Please test: http://forum.xbian.org/thread-211.html
OK nice that you solved it.
When I have time I can test it tomorrow.
Openelec is perferct for a week already. It plays realy everything... Inclusive xvid, mkv and avchd.
Regards.
If that doesn't solve things, try increasing your memory from 100 to 128, in /boot/config.txt.
I tested it as you discribed. Added to 128 memory also. Issue is not solved. The test file still stops at the same point. (45 seconds). I also still recognise a not fluent playback. This was also as before. I currently stay with openelec.
I just switched back my sdcard with openelec playing exaclty the same file. Smooth playback and movie doesn't stop. I have exactly the same overclocking.
Played using samba on both.
Issues seems to be solved in a recent compiled firmware & kernel. You can find the updated instructions here: http://forum.xbian.org/thread-211.html. Can you confirm this?
Do I have to do the same actions again, to install an updated version?
@brinka123 yes
@brinka123 any updates yet?
Tested for the 2nd time: after sudo /etc/init.d/xbmc start /usr/local/lib/xbmc/xbmc.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libEGL.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.
Please test your update with my test file.
Make a new release or daily buid I will test that.
The libEGL issue is not XBMC related (see https://github.com/xbianonpi/xbian/issues/198). To fix it:
sudo su
touch /etc/ld.so.conf.d/00-vmcs.conf
echo "/opt/vc/lib/" > /etc/ld.so.conf.d/00-vmcs.conf
ldconfig
reboot
@brinka123 I tried your sample on the following setup:
I played your sample for 5 minutes, the video never flickered and did not stop -> Issue = solved
Thanks for the effort!

Installd the latest nighlty to test AVCHD https://github.com/xbianonpi/xbmc-nightly
after AVCHD update, xvid won't play
See logging: xvid problem xbian http://paste.debian.net/218636/
[22:28] after a while, movie stops.
[22:29] Worked before. I connected directly to an USB to eliminate network...
[22:36] When I run the movie directly using omxplayer File.avi the movie plays very well.
Could this be the solution? https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/commit/e08fee30d1c9ca755ddb5c9833a19b8d1cbabff5
Testfile: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B_E5agDuRzLBdUhIcW1wRU9lMms Movie stops at 33 Seconds!
