Have you tried libreelec nightlies? Worked pretty well last time I tested (around mid last week) with direct to plane. They have a bunch of kernel patches though... I feel the Kodi repo is not the place to ask for help as the amount of variables at play here is quite high...maybe try the forums?

I heard about it, that's why I think that the latest linux+kodi combo can run on my hardware. I was running kodi on libreelec on a Rasberry Pi 3+ beforehand, which worked quite well, but I was so annoyed by all the stuff missing from the linux installation (which I gather is by design). DietPi would be the perfect balance for me.

Will do, thanks for the pointer.
Hi, I got the same problem on Banana Pro. The latest sources i've found can be retireved from https://github.com/bootlin/cedrus/. Set export LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=sunxi_cedrus accordingly. Kodi will look for sunxi_cedrus_drv_video.so then. Armbian should contain that.

Unfortunately, DietPi does not contain sunxi_cedrus_drv_video.so
, even though

# startkodi

at the time, but I upgraded to bookworm in the hopes that a new Debian release and Kodi 20 would solve the problem. However, the same problem was still present, with the same error message.ls /usr/lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/dri
shows:sun4i-drm_drv_video.so
, but the actual driver on my system is calledsun4i-drm_dri.so
.ln -s sun4i-drm_dri.so sun4i-drm_drv_video.so
# startkodi
