Any chance this is going to be upgraded to use more recent (supported) versions of all libraires and / or distributions ?

I wonder the same.

Is it still working with the current versions of libraries/distributions? Is it worth giving it a try? If yes, for how long is it expected to work, until it becomes completely unusable?
